On May 13th 2014 it was announced to the media that Zast Foods was one of five companies which had be been successfully awarded a Greenbelt Fund grant to help increase local food to the people of Ontario. The grant of $145,000 is to help Zast Foods’ Nudefruit and Just Chillin’ brands to supply ‘Local Frozen Food For All Seasons’. The aim is ‘creating and marketing a line of individually quick frozen Ontario fruit and vegetables to ensure year-round supply. These products include salsas, peach slices, and asparagus.’
The estimated impact of these new frozen foods is an increase in local food sales of $1 million by 2015.
Our new product peaches will be launching in July 2014 with a mixed vegetable to be added to the line later this year.
